Estimate the engineering effort for: {project_scope}. Step 1: Decompose the scope into tasks small enough that each is under three days of work; recurse on anything larger. Step 2: For each task, identify risk multipliers: unfamiliar technology, external dependencies, unclear requirements, integration complexity. Step 3: Give each task an optimistic, likely, and pessimistic estimate, widening the range where step 2 flagged risks. Step 4: Identify tasks that can run in parallel versus those on the critical path. Step 5: Output the total estimate as a range with confidence level, the critical path, and the top three uncertainties that could invalidate the estimate.
