Before responding, for each significant character decision in the draft, complete the sentence: 'This character does X because ___' using only motivations established on the page. If the honest answer is 'because the plot needs it', the motivation is broken. Verify characters act from want, fear, or belief - not authorial convenience. Pay special attention to villains (do they believe they're right?) and to any character who suddenly becomes stupid to enable the plot. Repair broken motivations before presenting.
