Template

Compare the old and new API surfaces: OLD: {old_api} NEW: {new_api}. Step 1: Diff the two surfaces, listing every removed, renamed, retyped, or behaviorally changed element. Step 2: Classify each change: non-breaking addition, source-breaking, binary-breaking, or behavior-breaking. Step 3: For each breaking change, write the exact before/after code a consumer must apply. Step 4: Identify changes that can be automated with a codemod and sketch the transformation rule. Step 5: Assemble a migration guide ordered by consumer effort: automated fixes first, mechanical edits second, behavioral changes requiring re-testing last.
