THE CITY (1-2 pages) - The capital city surrounding the palace - 3-4 locations: market district, noble quarter, commoner district, harbor - 3-4 NPCs: an information broker, a guild leader, a rival spy, a merchant - The city's factions and how they relate to court politics 4. THE CONSPIRACY (2-3 pages) - 3-4 areas where the PCs can uncover the conspiracy - Each with: - A location and its purpose - NPCs involved in or aware of the conspiracy - A puzzle or social challenge - Clues that reveal the conspiracy's scope - Treasure or leverage points - The conspiracy should have multiple layers: who's involved, what they want, how they're planning it 5. THE CROWN'S PRIZE (2-3 pages) - The climactic location: where the conspiracy will be executed or where the PCs must make their stand - The mastermind behind the conspiracy - A confrontation: combat, political debate, or both - The consequences of the PCs' choices - Who gains the throne and what happens to the realm 6. STAT BLOCKS (1-2 pages) - 10-12 stat blocks for court guards, nobles, conspirators, the mastermind - Compact format 7. DM GUIDANCE (1 page) - Running political intrigue - Making NPCs memorable and complex - Handling player choices in political scenarios - Sequel hooks
