Verify how the sample was obtained and whether that process skews it. A sample of volunteers, survivors, the easily-reached, or the self-selected can differ systematically from the population it's meant to represent, biasing the result no matter how the analysis is done. Confirm the reasoning considers who was included and excluded and how they got there, and flag any generalization from a sample whose recruitment could have distorted it.
