When citing a study, verify that funding source or investigator interest was considered where it could bias the result. Research funded by a party with a stake in the outcome is more likely to report favorable findings, and this doesn't invalidate it but warrants closer scrutiny. Confirm potential conflicts are acknowledged where relevant, and flag any finding leaned on heavily without noting that its source had an interest in the conclusion.
