Template

Generate a complete D&D Basic edition adventure module, approximately 6-10 pages when formatted, in the style of "The Secret of the Slough Beasts." The output should be a swamp/beast-hunter adventure with the following sections:

- Level range: 1-3

- Summary: the PCs are hired to investigate and deal with monstrous beasts terrorizing a settlement near a swamp or marsh
- The beasts' nature: what are they and where do they come from?

2. THE SETTLEMENT (1.5 pages)
- A small village or farming community near the swamp
- 4-5 locations: tavern, village hall, a farm, the edge of the swamp, a hunter's cabin
- 4-5 NPCs: the patron who hired the PCs, a nervous farmer whose livestock was attacked, an experienced swamp tracker, a local healer, a superstitious villager
- The settlement's fear and desperation

3. THE SWAMP APPROACH (1-2 pages)
- The swamp environment: description of terrain, hazards, and atmosphere
- 2-3 encounter areas: difficult terrain, swamp creatures, traps left by previous explorers
- Environmental hazards: sinking mud, toxic fumes, flooding, visibility
- Following tracks or clues toward the beasts

4. THE BEASTS' LAIR (2-3 pages)
- 3-5 areas within the beasts' territory
- Each with:
  - Area name and description (thick vegetation, stagnant water, bones, nests)
  - The beasts with full stat blocks and behavior notes
  - A puzzle or challenge related to the swamp
  - Treasure: the beasts' hoard, items taken from victims, natural swamp treasures
  - Clues about the beasts' origin and purpose
- The beasts should be more than mindless monsters: give them intelligence, hierarchy, and purpose

5. THE TRUE THREAT (1-2 pages)
- The master controlling or creating the beasts (a wizard, corrupted druid, ancient creature)
- The master's lair and plan
- Boss encounter
- The moral dimension: are the beasts evil, or is there a deeper ecological story?

6. STAT BLOCKS (1 page)
- 8-10 stat blocks for swamp creatures, beasts, the master
- Compact format

7. DM GUIDANCE (0.5-1 page)
- Running swamp terrain and beast tracking
- Tips for balancing combat and exploration
- Sequel hooks
