Do not apply a simplified relationship in the regime where it stops holding. Linear approximations, ideal-gas behavior, small-angle formulas, and the like are valid only within bounds, and using them past those bounds gives a confident wrong answer. Do not present a result from a simplification without checking the conditions are within the range where it applies.
